Son of Rocky Moran, who with his father, opened Moran Raceway in Beaumont, California, and helped run it between 2003 and 2006, when the track closed. As a racer, Rocky graduated through the Barber Dodge and Toyota Atlantic feeder series before moving into NASCAR Busch and then Grand-Am. His IRL debut - which ended up being very short after breaking his wrist in a crash in practice - was very surprising as Rocky hadn't really raced properly since 2011. After a brief spell in the Pirelli World Challenge GT Sprint Championship, Moran is now retired. He currently works as a commercial-real-estate broker.
