An attorney and former president of an airline, Pacific East Air, who had a brief go at racing through his business success. However, when Pacific East Air then went into bankruptcy in May 1984, Steve had to stop racing, having failed to qualify for the five events he attempted. Pacific East was a low-cost airline that specialised in flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Hawaii. Hostetler then went into the law business and still is an active lawyer in Long Beach, California, having qualified from South Bay University.
