Seriously injured in a huge crash at the Monaco Formula 3000 meeting, Piccolo missed virtually all the season and never regained career momentum. He was in Italian GT's for a while, then karting, but now spends his time working with karts and their young drivers as a driver coach and instructor, a discipline that saw the most success for Alessandro, with numerous wins. Piccolo also raced in Formula Renault Italia and the Italian Formula 3000 series, becoming a race winner, before his International Formula 3000 career stalled after his crash.
