Notes on the cars:

  1. Brabham BT10 [F2-4-64] (Paul Hawkins): Willment Autos bought F2-4-64 for Frank Gardner to use in F2 and also in occasional F1 races when fitted with a 1.5-litre twin-cam. It was also used at one early-season F3 race. Taken out to the South African Internationals in December 1964 and fitted with a 1500cc Ford twin cam for Paul Hawkins to race in the Rand GP. Remained in South Africa, still as a Willment entry but managed by Bob Olthoff and fitted with a 1600cc twin cam as South Africa had adopted 3-litre F1 a year early. Driven by Tony Maggs but crashed heavily at the Natal Winter Trophy at Roy Hesketh in late June. (The Formula 1 Register recorded F2-4-64 as the chassis number of the red-and-gold F3 Brabham of Chris Jackson in 1966 but this seems likely to be a typo.)
  2. Brabham BT10 [F2-10-64] (David Prophet): Having driven a Brabham BT6 in 1963, David Prophet moved to Lotus in 1964, buying a Lotus 32, before changing his mind in July and buying a new BT10. Picko Troberg drove this car at Karlskoga and Syd Fox at Vallelunga. Also raced by Prophet in the Springbok series in December 1964 and January 1965. Prophet retained this car for F2 in 1965 and in 1966. Unknown after October 1966.
  3. Lotus 21 [937] (Ernie Pieterse): New for Team Lotus in late 1961 and first raced by Jim Clark in the South African series of races in December and January. Then sold to Ernie Pieterse and raced in South African F1 from 1962 to 1965.
  4. Lotus 21 [939/952] (Neville Lederle): New to Syd van der Vyver in early 1962 for South African F1, and first raced at the Roy Hesketh "100" in April 1962. Raced up to Kyalami in August, when he crashed heavily. The car was sold to Neville Lederle, who continued to race it for the rest of 1962. Retained by Lederle for the 1963 season. Driven by Lionel Rowe and Dennis Guscott for Scuderia Scribante in 1964. Rebuilt on a new frame numbered 952 and raced by Lederle at the Rand GP in December 1964. Then raced for Scribante by Guscott again and by Brausch Niemann during the 1965 domestic season. Raced by Jackie Pretorius, still as a Scuderia Scribante entry, at the Rand GP in December 1965.
  5. Cooper Mk IV 'T51' [F2-16-60] (Dave Clapham): Delivered to a South African company in Oct 1960 according to the Cooper Register.

These 1966 to 1985 results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.
