3-litre Formula 1 World Championship events 1966-1985

These 1966 to 1985 results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.

All comments, clarifications, corrections and additions are most welcome. Please email Allen at allen@oldracingcars.com if you can help with our research.

Individual sources for this event

Autosport 24 Jul 1975 pp30-39 (by Pete Lyons). Motor Sport August 1975 p844,847,849 and September 1975 p1027-1029 (by 'DSJ' Denis Jenkinson).

Two entries arrived from McLaren, Tyrrell, Brabham, Ferrari, Shadow, Surtees and Hill. Lotus and March each had third entry, with Henton in the Lotus 72 taking over at No 15 and Lombardi plugging in at No 29 in the development March 751 as Stuck had taken over her regular car and its entry position at No 10. Single entries arrived from Williams, Hesketh, Parnelli, Fittipaldi, Ensign and Maki. Penske were present but now using a customer March. BRM was absent, Williams was down to a single entry and the third Tyrrell had gone, but addition of a third Lotus, a third March and second Surtees, plus the Lyncar and the Maki brought the total entries to 28. There had been 31 entries on the list but three didn’t turn up: the BRM because of oil system problems on the new P200 engine, the second Williams for Jean-Pierre Jabouille because of a shortage of engines, and the second Ensign for Gijs van Lennep did not appear.

Fushida never stood a chance with the appalling Maki and Wunderink was too inexperienced to develop the new Ensign, so Nicholson exceeded expectations by getting the Lyncar onto the grid. The Lotus team was now in a complete shambles, and in desperation had returned one of Lotus 72s to 1973 specification.

The spare cars present were a McLaren M23, Tyrrell 007, two Brabham BT44Bs, Ferrari 312T, Hill GH1, Shadow DN5, Hesketh 308, Parnelli VPJ4 and Fittipaldi FD. The spare Shadow and the second spare Brabham were not mentioned by Autosport, but Motor Sport’s report gave more detail.
