3-litre Formula 1 World Championship events 1966-1985

These 1966 to 1985 results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.

All comments, clarifications, corrections and additions are most welcome. Please email Allen at allen@oldracingcars.com if you can help with our research.

Individual sources for this event

Autosport 7 Aug 1975 pp10-17 (by Pete Lyons). Motor Sport September 1975 p1008-1010 (by 'DSJ' Denis Jenkinson).

Two entries arrived from McLaren, Tyrrell, Lotus, Brabham, Ferrari, Shadow, Williams, Hill and Hesketh, who had adopted Harald Ertl’s ex-Stiller Hesketh 308 as a second entry. March again had a third entry for Lombardi. Single entries arrived from Ensign, Parnelli, Fittipaldi and Maki. Penske was present with a customer March again. BRM was absent due to continuing engine problems, and Surtees was absent due the repairs needed after Silverstone, so Watson joined Lotus for this race. The Lyncar did not attend of course, so there was a total of 26 entries. The Ensign had been promoted to No 19 on the entry list, a number set aside for a second Surtees but not being utilised.

The 12 spare cars present were a McLaren M23, a Tyrrell 007, one Brabham BT44B, a Ferrari 312T, a Shadow DN5 for Pryce and also the new Shadow-Matra DN7 for Jarier, the old Ensign N174, a Hill GH1, a Hesketh 308C and also a Hesketh 308 for Hunt, a Parnelli VPJ4 and a Fittipaldi FD. Autosport didn’t notice the Tyrrell or the Fittipaldi. Motor Sport did not mention the Hesketh 308 and did not list the Shadow DN7, which was kept in the Shadow transporter after being warmed up on Friday morning. Engins Matra were not happy. At least the Hesketh 308C did a single lap.
