Notes on the cars:
- March 733 [3] (Russell Wood): New to Russell Wood and run for him in the British F3 series by Peter Bloore Racing with backing from The Chequered Flag. Wood won three early round of the championship but had a heavy accident at Zandvoort in May and did not win again. Sold to Australian Ian Douglass for 1974 and rebuilt for Australian F2, using various 742 bits. The car was involved in a fire during private testing at Oran Park after the Lakeside race in December 1974 and was completely burnt to the ground.
- Brabham BT41 [16] (Randy Lewis): New to Randy Lewis in 1973.
- Brabham BT41 [14] (Ulf Svensson): New to Ulf Svensson in 1973.
- GRD 373 (Rudolf Dötsch): Rudolf Dötsch (Mülheim, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) raced a GRD 373 in F3 in early 1973 as part of Team Europa Möbel as teammate to Wolfgang Bülow. After the first few races, his entrant changed to Jörg Obermoser Eurorace, but it is presumed here that Dötsch owned his car and moved it from one team to the other. His last appearance was at Brands Hatch in July where he "destroyed" the car when he possibly missed a gear change and hit the bank at Kidney. He was taken to hospital with a broken leg. When he returned to F3 in F4, it was in his old March 723, so the GRD was presumably not repaired.
- GRD 373 (Sigi Hofmann): Sigi Hofmann (Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany) raced a GRD 372 in European F3 in 1973, entered by Jörg Obermoser-Eurorace GRD. Like Gernot Lamby's car, it was often referred to as a GRD 373, but was referred to at least once as a 372, indicating it was a 1972 car upgraded to 1973 specification. He appeared at least six times in German F3, and also at Misano and Zandvoort. Nothing more known.
- Lotus 69 [71/69.9.F3] (Günter Kölmel): New to Freddy Kottulinsky and raced extensively in European F3 in 1971, using Schnitzer BMW engines and entered by Haj-Haj Racing Team. Raced by Günter Kölmel (Achern-Ohnsbach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany) in European F3 in 1972 and 1973, again with BMW engines and entered by Haj-Haj Racing Team. Kölmel raced the car again in F3 in 1974, now using 2-litre BMW engines. Subsequent history unknown.
- Lotus 69 [71/69-8.F3] (Carlo Breidenstein): New to Richard Longman for British F3 in 1971, using Novamotor engines. To Carlo Breidenstein (Freigericht, Hesse, Germany) for German and other Formula 3 races in 1972, using Ford engines. Retained by Breidenstein for 1973. He appeared again in the car at ADAC-Bergrennen Alzenau in September 1974, his first appearance for a year. To Peter Rössler (Fulda, Hesse) for German national F3 class events in 1975 and 1976, before moving to a newer Maco 375 for 1977. Rossler drove the Lotus again briefly in early 1978 before it went to Willi Kahlenberg (Mörlenbach, Hesse) in May 1978 for German national F3 class events in 1978 and 1979.
- GRD 372 [017-F3] (Hans-Peter Hoffmann): New to Hans-Peter Hoffmann (Burgdorf, Switzerland) and raced in Swiss, German and French F3 races in 1972. Retained for 1973, when he raced it in F3 events in Germany, Britain, Italy and France. Subsequent history unknown.
- Royale RP11 [4] (Josef Kremer): New to Josef Kremer and raced in German F3 in 1972 and 1973. Reappeared with Kremer in 1975. History then unknown until acquired by Martin Wood (Barnoldswick. Lancashire) in 2004. Raced by Derek Buckton (Ripon, North Yorkshire) in HSCC Classic Formula 3 in 2011 and on display at the NEC in January 2012, loaned by Buckton. Raced by James Buckton in HSCC Classic Formula 3 in 2012.
- March 713S (Günter Hölker): From August 1972, Günter Hölker (Dülmen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) appeared in German F3 events with a March 713 entered by H. Hundt GmbH Duckhams Oils (Krefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia). Retained by the Hundt team for 1973, and raced regularly by Hölker in German hillclimbs. Subsequent history unknown.
- March 713S [8] (Walter Proebst): New to Eifelland for Formula 3 and delivered in March 1971. Although there is no contemporary identification of this car's first driver, it was identified by Bonhams in a sale in Germany in August 2003 as Willi Sommer's car, commenting that the car had its original ONS-Wagenpass issued in 1971. Sommer raced a March 713S through the 1971 season as part of the Eifelland Wohnwagenbau team. According to Chris Townsend, it then went to Hans Deffland (Munich, Bavaria) for 1972, entered by Formel Team München. After the 1972 season, Deffland exchanged it for the crashed Porsche 910 of Walter Proebst (Adlkofen, Landshut, Bavaria), and Proebst raced the car in German hillclimbs, initially in the F3 class and later in F2. Bonhams did not account for its history after 1971 until it was restored "1996-99 by Auer of Dortmund".
- March 713M [7?] (Dietmar Flöer): New to Jim Gleave's MRE (Bourne End, Buckinghamshire) according to March records but MRE do not run a 713M in 1971. Believed to be the car raced by Dietmar Flöer (Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, West Germany) in European F3 in 1971. Retained for 1972 and for 1973, and reppeared again as late as 1975. Likely to be the "712M" that Flöer raced in a German national F2 race in August 1975, then the March 713M he raced in F3 at Wunstorf in 1976 and Diepholz in 1977, and may well be the F3 Eigenbau he raced at Hockenheim in May 1980. Subsequent history unknown.
- Merlyn Mk 22 [440/F3/73] (Håkan Dahlqvist): New to Håkan Dahlqvist for British and European F3 in 1973, and described as a "Mk 22". Dahlqvist won the Swedish F3 title in this car. Retained by Dahlqvist for Swedish F3 in 1974, when it was also driven at one race by Matts Nygren. To Lars-Åke Olsson for Swedish F3 in 1975. To Thomas Gunnarsson for Swedish F3 in 1976. To Thorbjörn Bäck for Swedish F3 in 1977. Subsequent history unknown, but in about 1987 or 1988, Richard Parkin located the car in Sweden and brought it back to England. He sold it to Anthony Taylor about a year later, and Taylor restored it to Formula B specification, using it briefly in HSCC historic racing. Taylor's understanding was that it was Dahlqvist's Swedish F3 championship winning car. The car was later sold via Chris Alford about 1994 or 1995. Richard Taylor, Anthony's son, recalls that it might have gone to Canada.
- March (Bernd Breil): Bernd Breil (Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate, West Germany) raced in German F3 during 1972 and 1973, but such is the inconsistency in the way his car was described, it is very hard to be sure what it was. It was described by ONS Mitteilungen as a March, a March 713, and an Eifelland, but also a Rilo March and an Engel. Two photographs on formel3guide.com show a 1971 March, so the current hypothesis is that it was a March 713S. Also, formel3guide.com has identified the car as chassis 713S-1, the car used by James Hunt at the start of 1971, but this is hard to reconcile with the reported later history of that car as Dave Morgan's Formula Atlantic mount, sold to Mike Wilds' backer for 1972. At present, Breil's car is unresolved.
- Chevron B17 [17.70.05?] (Maximillian Plass): New to Jürg Dubler (Oberhasli, Switzerland) and raced in European F3 in 1970 using Novamotor engines, and winning at Montjuich Park, Brno and Zandvoort. Bought from Dubler by Austrian sportscar driver Klaus Reisch in 1971 for the new 1600cc F3, using a Wainer-built Alfa Romeo engine, and run by Auto Ascher. Then likely to be the Chevron B17-Alfa raced by Maximillian Plass (Munich, Germany) in F3 in 1972. Subsequent history unknown.
- Brabham BT38C [14] (Lars "Lasse" Karlsson): New to Ulf Svensson for European F3 in 1972, using Holbay engines and sponsored by Team Mum for Men. According to Magnus Haggstam, this car went to Lasse Karlsson for 1973 and raced by him in F3 until at least 1975. Then to Kaal Wirgin in 1976, and raced by him Swedish Formula 3 Championship races in 1977 and 1978, before he acquired a newer Argo. The car was next seen in 2000, when it was acquired by Carsten Frimodt (Denmark). It was restored to F2 specification with an 1860cc engine and was raced by Frimodt in Sweden in 2006 and 2007. Frimodt sold it to another Dane who sold it to Dr Sami Hamid (Vienna, Austria) in 2010. It was restored for him by Marcel Biehl of Biehl Racing (Moenchengladbach, Germany) to proper F3 specification. It was sold to John Albiston (Elgin, Scotland) in 2018, who modified it to Formula Atlantic specification and used to win the Scottish Historic Hillclimb and Sprint Championship in 2019 and 2020.
- GRD 373 [069-F3] (Gernot Lamby): Gernot Lamby (München, Bavaria, Germany) raced a GRD 373 in German F3 in 1973, entered by Fritz Lochmann Racing Team. He appeared at least six times in German events and once at Monza. This was presumably the same car he drove in 1974, when it was identified on its Mainz-Finthen entry form as chassis 069. Subsequent history unknown.
- Brabham BT35 [28] (Josef Ludescher): Josef Ludescher (Winterthur, northern Switzerland) raced a Brabham BT35 in Swiss events in 1971. Retained for 1972 and used in Swiss, German and Italian events. Retained again for 1973. According to a later advertisement, the car was retained by Ludescher until 1983, after which it returned to England for historic racing.
- March 733 [713S-5] (Bernd Rack): New to Eifelland for Formula 3 and delivered in March 1971. Listed in March records as for "Erwin", so presumably the car raced by Erwin Derichs (Kottenheim, Rhineland-Palatinate, West Germany) in some German national F3 races in 1971 as part of the Eifelland Caravaning team. According to Manfred Werner, this was then the car of Bernd Rack (Kelkheim, Hesse, West Germany) in 1972 and 1973. Subsequent history unknown.
- March 713M [6] (Roger Hurst): New to John Bisignano (Denver, CO) and raced in British F3 in 1971 with support from Liggett & Myers L&M tobacco brand. Sold in October 1971 to Roger Hurst (Folkestone, Kent) of Lenham Hurst and raced in F3 in 1972 and 1973. By 1973 the car was being described on occasion as a 723, a 733, a March Falconer, and even as a Lenham LM1. Last raced by Hurst in November 1973. In March 1974, the car was advertised by Low Cost Racing who mentioned that it had Falconer bodywork and was fitted with a Holbay R70 engine for Formula 4. Its history over the next five years is unknown, but in 1979 and 1980, Tony Harris and Colin Brook raced 713M-6 in F4. Subsequent history unknown. A car with this identity was advertised in Italy in 2012.
- Lotus 69 [71/69.4.F3] (Fabrizio Noè): New to Manfred Mohr and raced extensively in European F3 in 1971, using Novamotor engines. Sold to Fabrizio Noè for 1972. Noè had raced a 1971 Lotus 69 in F3 in 1971 but in early 1972 was reported to have sold his car to Fiorenzo Togna and bought Mohr's "monocoque" car to replace it. This suggests Mohr's car had acquired a F2 chassis at some point during 1971. Raced by Noè in Italian F3 in 1972. Subsequent history unknown.
- GRD 372 [013-F3] (Jo Vonlanthen): New to Jo Vonlanthen (Frauenfeld, Switzerland) and raced in F3 across Europe during 1972, mainly using Novamotor's Ford twin cam engines. Also loaned to his friend Kurt Müller (Weisfelden, Switzerland) who raced it in Swiss and German national events in 1972. He acquired a Formula 2 GRD 273 for 1973 and although he entered the 372 for the Nürburgring F3 race on 1 April 1973, did not appear. Vonlanthen did appear once more in a F3 GRD, at Hockenehim on 15 July, presumably in his 372 again. The car was then sold to Bretscher Racing for 1973 and raced by Walter P. Fluckiger (Zofingen, Switzerland) in Swiss national events, including several German F3 races that season. It is assumed that this was the car raced by Vonlanthen in the German national race at Hockenehim on 15 July 1973. It was raced by Kurt Müller again in Swiss events in the early part of the 1974 season, his class suggesting that he was using a 1600cc engine at first. Raced by him in Germany later in 1974, using a 2-litre Novamotor Toyota engine. Chris Townsend believes this car probably went to Urs Freidli, and then to Daniel Costelli in 1978.
- GRD 372 (Norbert Wieland): Norbert Wieland (Neubulach, Baden-Württemberg, Germany) raced a GRD at least once during the 1973 German F3 season. He was entered by MSC (Motorsportclub) Calw e.V.im ADAC, one of ADAC's oldest clubs. Although his only known race was at Hockenheim on 15 July, he entered at least three other races, spanning from April to August, which suggests this was more than just a hire deal. The car is believed to have been a 372.
- GRD 373 (Bernhard Brack): Bernhard Brack (Honzrath, Saarland, Germany) raced a GRD in German Formula 3 in 1973 in 1973, 1974 and 1975. He was entered by MC Mittelsaar (Ensdorf, Saarland). The car is reported by Wolfgang Neumayer's very reliable formel3guide.com to have been a GRD 373, but ONS Meitelungen only referred to it as a GRD, so it is possible it was an older 372 updated.
- March 713M [1] (Heinz Lange): New to Eifelland Wohnwagenbau for Hannelore Werner to race in German and European F3 in 1971. To Heinz Lange (Neuburgweiler, Baden-Württemberg) at the end of the season, and used in the Italian F3 series where Lange hired a Brabham BT35 from Scuderia Italia and the 713M was raced by Piergiovanni Tenani, Clois Avigni and "Shangri-Là" (Romano Martini). It may have been raced once by Livio Franzoso in 1973, but apparently retained by Lange that year. Sold to Werner Fischer (Waiblingen, Baden-Württemberg) for 1974, then to Biagio Brandi (Bad Homburg, Hesse) in 1978, and then to Marcel Biehl (Mönchengladbach, North Rhine-Westphalia), who posted pictures of the unrestored car on Facebook in November 2013. Immaculately restored and raced by Biehl in 2015. Sold to former owner Werner Fischer in 2016, and raced by him in the German HRA series in 2017 and 2018.
- Lotus 69 (Roberto Filannino): Roberto Filannino raced a Lotus 69 in Italian F3 in March and April 1973, using Ford engines and entered by Scuderia Torino Corse. Nothing more known.
- Brabham BT38C (Alessandro Guidetti): New to Alessandro Guidetti and raced by him in Italian F3 in the latter part of the 1972 season, run by Scuderia Mirabella Mille Miglia. Retained for Italian F3 for the first half of the 1973 season, when it was entered by Scuderia Brescia Corse.
