Notes on the cars:
- Lotus 21 [939/952] (Jackie Pretorius): New to Syd van der Vyver in early 1962 for South African F1, and first raced at the Roy Hesketh "100" in April 1962. Raced up to Kyalami in August, when he crashed heavily. The car was sold to Neville Lederle, who continued to race it for the rest of 1962. Retained by Lederle for the 1963 season. Driven by Lionel Rowe and Dennis Guscott for Scuderia Scribante in 1964. Rebuilt on a new frame numbered 952 and raced by Lederle at the Rand GP in December 1964. Then raced for Scribante by Guscott again and by Brausch Niemann during the 1965 domestic season. Raced by Jackie Pretorius, still as a Scuderia Scribante entry, at the Rand GP in December 1965.

3-litre Formula 1 Non-championship events 1966-1983
These results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.
All comments, clarifications, corrections and additions are most welcome. Please email Allen (allen@oldracingcars.com) if you can help with our research.
Individual sources for this event
Autosport 7 Jan 1966 pp10-13, Springbok Grand Prix (Robert Young) pp107-112, Motor Sport Feb 1966 p90, Motoring News 6 Jan 1966 pp1,6-7. Autosport showed Doug Serrurier two places further down, in tenth, on 54 laps, but Robert Young's data is preferred here. Motor Sport only gave the first six finishers, and Motoring News showed Serrurier eighth, without reporting the number of laps.
