3-litre Formula 1 World Championship events 1966-1985

These 1966 to 1985 results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.

All comments, clarifications, corrections and additions are most welcome. Please email Allen at allen@oldracingcars.com if you can help with our research.

Individual sources for this event

Autosport 31 May 1968 pp10-17. Motor Sport July 1968 pp605-606,608-609 and 'Notes on the cars at Monaco' on p610. Motoring News 30 May 1968 pp1,12-14. Speedworld International 1 Jun 1968 pp17-23. Motoring News had relatively little chassis identification information, but did mention that Pedro Rodriguez' BRM was 133-02, as the chassis of 01 had been creased at Jarama. Autosport and Motoring News both mentioned that Ken Sheppard's McLaren did not turn up, and Motor Sport listed that car as #20. Ten drivers were guaranteed a start, including Ludovico Scarfiotti and Dan Gurney who were slowest in qualifying, and the remaining eight had to fight for six starting places. Autosport and Motor Sport both mentioned that a second MS11 was present; MS and SWI listed the car raced as MS11-02 but AS did not clarify and MN offered no information. The Lotus 49s had acquired large rear spoilers and front canard wings, as F1's blossoming interest in aerodynamics continued.
