3-litre Formula 1 World Championship events 1966-1985
These 1966 to 1985 results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.
All comments, clarifications, corrections and additions are most welcome. Please email Allen at allen@oldracingcars.com if you can help with our research.

The works entries were the two STP Marches, two Tyrrell Marches, two Lotus 72s plus a 49C this time for young Emerson Fittipaldi, two McLaren M14s and the M7D Alfa, the usual two Brabham BT33s, two Matra MS120s, three Yardley-BRM P153s and two Ferraris. Only the Tyrrell and Ferrari teams arrived with a spare car, but Autosport again failed to mention the Ferrari. John Surtees joined the constructor ranks - the 15th 3-litre F1 constructor - with his new Surtees TS7 and Frank Williams' De Tomaso was back for Redman to drive, but Silvio Moser did not arrive with the Bellasi. The privateers were Rob Walker's two-year-old Lotus 49C for Hill, Lovely's 49B, the STP March 701 for Andretti and the Colin Crabbe March 701 for Peterson. So 25 entries, all of whom would get a start if they were able. Apart from Moser, there were quite a few other non-arrivals: John Surtees did not have enough engines for Trevor Taylor to race the McLaren M7C, Brabham did not get a third BT33 ready in time for Schenken, similarly a third McLaren M4A was not ready in time for Gethin, and Jo Bonnier posted a speculative entry as he was negotiating to buy the McLaren M7C from Surtees.
MN reported that Andretti's 701 had a new monocoque since it last raced in Spain, and Siffert's 701 had been rebuilt on the monocoque that Amon had damaged at Monaco. Pescarolo was in MS120/1, the car wrecked at the Race of Champions, now rejigged and rebuilt, as he had damaged MS120/2 at Clermont-Ferrand. He wrecked it again in the race, prompting Rosinsky to call it "pauvre chassis 01". Motoring News revealed in August that two days after the British GP, Stewart tried out Beltoise' Matra MS120 alongside his regular March 701 at Silverstone. He later said the Matra was a second quicker, but Alan Rees said it was the other way around.
