3-litre Formula 1 Non-championship events 1966-1983
These results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.
All comments, clarifications, corrections and additions are most welcome. Please email Allen (allen@oldracingcars.com) if you can help with our research.

Despite a number of teams dropping out through lack of engines, works entries comprised three from Lotus, three from BRM, and one each from McLaren, Surtees and Tyrrell. Privateers were Frank Williams, Clarke-Mordaunt-Guthrie and Siffert Racing Team, whose March 701 was entered for Alan Rollinson. Bonnier was entered but did not arrive with a McLaren M14 that he hadn't actually bought, Frank Williams' March 711 was not ready, and Denny Hulme's McLaren M19A did not appear.
Tyrrell brought a T car for Stewart, so he had both the Tyrrells built so far. The Williams entry for was the March 701 being described as the "MCD Special" as a deal had been done to enter it for MCD's favoured drivers at British non-championship events. Both this and the new Clarke-Mordaunt-Guthrie March 701 were lacking what Autosport described as their "fuel-carrying side sponsons" as they were unnecessary for such short races. The "MCD Special" was wrecked when driver Cyd Williams lost control after Druids in practice and was launched over an earth bank, hitting the Bailey Bridge about four feet above the ground. The driver was fortunately unhurt, but the March would need a new monocoque. Lotus 49C/R10 made a last appearance in F1 when it was retrieved from a Lotus dealer in Bradford so that its rear frame could be used to repair 49C/R6 after Trimmer crashed in practice.
