3-litre Formula 1 World Championship events 1966-1985

These 1966 to 1985 results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.

Autocourse 1972-73 pp124-129 (by Mike Kettlewell). Autosport's report was a week late due to "unforeseen delays with air travel".

There were two entries from each of Tyrrell, Lotus, Ferrari, McLaren, Surtees, March and Williams; three from Brabham; four from BRM; and one each from Matra and Tecno. The privateers were the stockbroker March, and the Gene Mason Racing March 711 for Skip Barber, bringing the total to 25. Andretti was committed to a USAC race at Trenton so Arturo Merzario was entered, but then dropped at the last minute.

The spare cars were Stewart's Tyrrell 004, Fittipaldi's Lotus 72, the Ferrari 312B2 that Merzario would have driven, the McLaren team's M19A, and Mike Hailwood's Surtees TS9B, which was untouched. Hailwood was busy with the Surtees F2 team at Albi. There was no spare Matra, as rumours circulated that the team would not continue in 1973. Tony Southgate had already left BRM and would be joining the new UOP Shadow F1 team for 1973, and Peter Schetty was serving out the end of his period at Ferrari.
