3-litre Formula 1 World Championship events 1966-1985

These 1966 to 1985 results were initially compiled by Allen Brown, but these were in the very basic form required to track individual car histories. Since then further details, such as laps completed, qualifying times and so on, have been added from Rob Ryder's extensive database.

All comments, clarifications, corrections and additions are most welcome. Please email Allen at allen@oldracingcars.com if you can help with our research.

Sport Auto Juin 1972 p54-59 (by Jabby Crombac). Autocourse 1972-73 pp82-87 (by Mike Kettlewell). Autosport's Alan Phillips was still producing his two pages of data on each race, still including engine numbers.

There were two entries from each of Tyrrell, March, Ferrari, Lotus, McLaren, Brabham and Williams; three from Surtees, five from BRM, and one from Matra. Andretti was busy at Indianapolis, and his Ferrari remained in Modena. The only privateers were the stockbroker March and Eifelland, giving a total of 25, all of which were allowed to start. There was no suggestion of a Tecno appearing here. The T cars were Stewart's Tyrrell 003, the newer 004 being nominated as his race car, Peterson's March 721, Ickx' Ferrari, Hulme's McLaren M19A and Amon's Matra which MN and AS agreed was MS120C/04.
