Formula 2 1975

After their dominance of the 1973 and 1974 seasons, March finally got competition in 1975 from the Elf-backed French teams of Jabouille and Martini. Jean-Pierre Jabouille's Equipe Elf Switzerland had new cars, based on their Alpine precedents but designed, constructed and driven by Jabouille and powered by Schnitzer BMW engines. Martini entered a single car for Jacques Laffite, based on their successful F3 cars and also with Schnitzer BMW powerplants.

But numerically speaking, 70% of every grid was a March with the rest of the field split between struggling Chevron, the new Osella team from Italy and the two French teams.

Brian Henton was the only man to be propelled onto the podium by one of these, a Hart BDA powering his March 752 at Hockenheim and later his converted Formula Atlantic Wheatcroft R18 at Silverstone.
