Northeast Division SCCA Formula A 1967
Fred Opert had qualified for the Runoffs in 1966 by using a Formula C car, only to be disqualified for being underweight. He was up to similar tricks in 1967, scoring nine points for being first in class at a National at Bryar in October where Vincent Tudisco was running his "Vindicator" Formula A car, thus making a class. Opert was driving a Brabham but nothing is known about it. He did not take up his invitation to the Runoffs.
Sharing the title with him was Chuck Kirkbride, who had a Lotus 18/21 with 1.5-litre Climax FPF engine. He did take up his invitation to Daytona and won the Formula A class.
Final standings
1. | Charles Kirkbride | Lotus [18/21 - Climax] | NNJ | 9 pts |

Most of our knowledge of NEDiv racing comes from the SCCA's Sports Car magazine and from Competition Press & Autoweek. We are very keen to acquire or borrow 1960s, 1970s and 1980s copies of SCCA regional publications from this Division. These include:
- Pit Talk (New England Region)
- The Drift (Steel Cities Region)
- Knock Off (Mohawk-Hudson Region)
- Regional Review (New York Region)
- Spark Plug (Glen Region)
- The Spokesmen (Philadelphia Region)
- The Straightpipe (Washington DC Region)
- Top End Magazine (Finger Lakes Region)
North Carolina Region, which moved from NEDiv to SEDiv in 1969, has made its newsletter available online at the NCR website.
Additionally, Racing Magazine was published as a Lime Rock track magazine.
We are also keen to get scans of entry lists from SCCA Nationals in this Division.
