Part of the design team at B.R.M. which included Tony Rudd, Tony Southgate and Geoff Johnson, Wilfred Alec Osborn was involved in the design of the the P133, the P138 and the P139. Alec still lives near the old B.R.M factory in Lincolnshire. He was also involved with Johnson and Rudd on the H16 and H12 engines. He later worked for Perkins Engines in Peterborough and later became their chief engineer, before becoming a consultant for them after retirement. He became President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in 2006. Osborn is a Member of the Order of the British Empire but actually was awarded it for his service to education. At the time he was Chair of Governors at Deacon's School, Peterborough. He has been involved with local schools for some while and became director of the Thomas Deacon Academy in Bourne in 2004.
