Sometimes listed as Hugh Aiden-Jones, but this seems a mixup between him and Hugh Powell. Jones was an accomplished engineer, mechanic and designer, originally from Ireland (hence the Shannon name), but later based for many years in Southern England. His son works as an engineer in the IRL. Jones was formerly a mechanic for Prince Bira and Prince Chula. The Shannon effort was a short-lived affair which saw Aiden design the car and Paul Emery design the engine. Jones also worked as a mechanic for Ian Burgess and once built a special for the Anglo American Equipe before joining Scirocco as a design consultant. Jones later designed Formula Super Vee Shannons which were raced by his son Eddie and others in the early 1980's.
