Formerly a technical consultant to the FIA, as well as being the head of their Safety Commission, Peter, remained, until his death, a technical consultant and was latterly heavily involved in electric scooters. During his time at the FIA, Peter helped oversee the halo and the HANS device which have saved many lives, but also focused on sustainability. Peter was also a technical journalist and liked to fly gliders in his spare time. Formerly lived in France, but in his last years, lived near the Herefordshire border. Wright was a hugely respected engineer who was one of the pioneers of ground effect technology, which occured whilst working at Technocraft, which was a research company that worked in tandem with Colin Chapman's boat business. After the huge success this then entailed, Peter moved into the sport full-time until 1994. Peter started his motorsport career with BRM in the 1960's and finished it with the rebadged Team Lotus, helping to deign the March 701 and worked for Specialised Mouldings as well. In 2024, he wrote his autobiography. He also ran a holiday rental cottage.
