MidWest Division SCCA Formula B 1974
A lot of new names appeared in Midwest Formula B, foremost of whom was Bob Young who won the division in a Lola T242. Other newcomers included Dorsey Schroeder, who won the opening National at Mid-America Raceway and the Ponca City Grand Prix in his Brabham BT35, and Tim Cooper who won the Falstaff Nationals at Holtville in March. Jackie Cooper had the newest car, a brand new March 74B, but was still learning his way in Regionals.
James King took second place at MAR in May in a March, presumably his March 73B while waiting for his new Chevron B27 to arrive from England for the Pro series. John Bernadine had replaced his older mystery Brabham with an ex-F2 Brabham BT38 for 1974. Mystery cars in this division in 1974 include Ron Franklin's Hawke, Henry Roddiger's Lotus and Buddy Roberts' Crosslé.

Midwest Division sources
Although Competition Press was more concerned with west coast and east coast events, the major midwest events were covered reasonably well. However, we know little of the goings-on away from these events and are are keen to acquire or borrow 1960s, 1970s and 1980s copies of SCCA regional publications from this Division. The key ones are:
- Checkpoint (Kansas City Region)
- Course Record (Arkansas Region)
- The Echo (Southern Illinois Region)
- Exhaust Notes (Nebraska) - full archive available at nrsccahistory.com.
- Gasket Gazette (Oklahoma Region)
- Neokla Observer (NE Oklahoma Region), renamed Sports Car Observer in 1980
- The Offside Undo (Kansas Region)
- Redline (Colorado Region)
- Steerin’ Column (Mid-South Region)
- Wheelspin (St. Louis Region)
- Witches Wail (Wichita Region)
We are also keen to get scans of entry lists from SCCA Nationals for this division.
